WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU

Fewer young Minnesotans are fishing these days, according to the
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and as a result, the state is
losing a generation of conservation-minded anglers.

Does that concern you? What should Minnesota do to continue the state's
fishing traditions — and the revenues fishing licenses generate for fish
management and habitat — for the next 50 years?

Send us your ideas on why fewer young people are fishing and how the
trend could be reversed.

Send comments via e-mail to Outdoors Editor Chris Niskanen at
cniskanen@pioneerpress.com. Or write him at the Pioneer Press at 345
Cedar St., St. Paul, MN 55101. A selection of letters will be published
on the Outdoors page Feb. 4.

thanks iceberg.
I will be writing to chris myself.
I have a few ideas, like QUIT SCREWING WITH THE LIMITS!
who cares how many fish there are left in the lakes if they tighten things up so bad that it isnt worth going?
ask the resort owners how they feel about that in particular.
it is all relative. with out families going to resorts, there are no kids at resorts, fishing.
just one of the many examples I will pose to him.
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

Maybe like teaching us all catch and release, then ab anding much of the stocking programs to save money. All the while raising the cost a license and cutting the limits.

Ya, that could be a reason why the young people aren't taking up both hunting and fishing!!

I think some of the reasons theres nothing can be done about. Like both parents working trying to get ahead of the bills. Alot of it is just people seem to be to busy.

My answer that is when my life gets too busy that I no longer have time for outdoors is I'm going to make changes.

People choose to be too busy!  No one NEEDS a $35k car, no one needs a TV in every bedroom and the kitchen, no one needs leather furniture and an oak entertainment center.  I saw a sign on the way in to work for Town home, starting in the "Low $300K's"?  WTF??  Screw the Jones, screw your 3rd cousin once removed, kids grad party, lets go fishing.
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot
