DULUTH - Fisherman's Corner, Scott, 7 miles north of Miller Mall on Hwy 53, www.fishycorner.com (218-729-5369)
Ice is good in the area, but watch out for the pressure ridges.  Some kids put their truck through on a pressure ridge because they weren’t careful.  The breaks need time to freeze over.  Boulder Lake continues to be good for walleyes in 8 to 10 feet of water using rainbow chubs.  Pike Lake is giving up some nice eater sized walleyes and tons of perch are biting during the day.  Grand Lake is a good bet for northerns with golden shiners.  The St. Louis River by Pokegama bay has been giving up some big crappies, and the shore casters on Lake Superior have been having some luck by the French River for loopers and some cohos mixed in, mostly using crawlers off the bottom.

DULUTH - Marine General, 1501 London Road, on the edge of Lake Superior, www.marinegeneral.com (218-724-8833)
Trolling out on the big lake is producing some nice fish.  Steel head, loopers and lakers are all being caught.  Trolling with small spoons and bomber baits has worked the best.  Shore casting has been better lately with crawlers off the bottom or using spawn sacks.  The walleyes are in the lower river and the bite is doing okay.  They are out in boats there, but that is subject to change as the temps do.   The upper river locked up again after last week’s rain.  Inland, we have 9 to 14 inches of ice.  All area lakes are doing good, call for a report on a particular lake.
