Does anyone know where I could get some good instructional lessons for fly fishing?  I am in the Becker area.  I remember a few years back seeing a class advertised in St. Cloud, but don't remember where it was.

Maybe there are some available on DVD. I know that many thing like that have instructional video.

Something like that would be much better if it was to be a perssonal deal more of a hands on thing. If that is what ur looking for I don't know.

Bentley's Outfitter's in Bloomington offers fly casting and fly tying classes.  I think the casting classes are in Eden Prairie.

I agree, I would talk to 7 Pines.  Not many people know more about fly fishing than he.

There is an ad in the Outdoor News every week about fly tying or a fly fishing club in St Cloud.
Look in the Classified for Meeting and Events.

Thanks Iceberg.  I will have to check that out.  Also sounds like 7pines is the guy to talk to.  I like the idea of learning while fishing.

Ice Hole,
Bentley's is a fine place to learn more than a thing or two.  Gordon, Andy and the rest really know their stuff.
If you'd prefer to learn to cast streamside and also catch trout your first time out (I guarantee you'll catch trout), I'd be more than happy to meet up at the lodge.  50% discount for all MNO staff and members! ;)
IM me and we'll hammer out the details, directions, etc.
I know we'd have a good go of it!

The Sportsman's Warehouse in Woodbury offers both fly tying and casting lessons throughout the year.

The fly tying classes are every Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:30 through the end of March.  The fly casting lessons begin Saturday April 28th.

Check with the St. Cloud Sportsman's Warehouse store for classes and availablility.

If there is anyone serious about learning how to fly fish and wants to catch fish this is an opportunity that I would not miss. We went up to the lodge last year and had a blast!! I took my girlfriend Rachel at the time who had never picked up a fly rod in her life. The results were astounding!!

I remember Rachel's hat very well...yes, yes...made me hungry for Jiffy-Pop. ;D
It is quite a haul out to the lodge from the cities, I will admit that.  Good words from Nanook.  I didn't know the S.W. offered fly casting/tying.  Good to know.  Once you have the basic casting down (and equipment, fly selection, reading the water, entomology...naw, just kidding! ;D), there's good water like the Rush and Kinni, too.

...or hire your ol' pal, Dan Brown, for a few hours. :whistling:
Hell, I'm a lefty too.  You may call me "Lefty Brown," but don't call me Ray...or Ray Jay...or Ray Jay Jr....or late for dinner. :offtopic:  Sorry, off-topic there!
