Vikings just got perfect excuse to re-sign Peterson.

Say What  ......
Vikings GM Rick Spielman still wants Adrian Peterson back, but the Raiders might have caught the RB's attention

 :coffee: .....
Now that superstar running back Adrian Peterson is officially a free agent for the first time in his career, the Minnesota Vikings are left with a question mark at the position.

 :doah: ....
The Vikings were extremely inept on the offensive side of the ball last season, and having the combination of Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata didn't help the cause. Going forward, the Vikings are going to have to add playmakers to their offense if they want to take a significant leap in an up-for-grabs NFC North.

 :bonk: .....
With the NFL running back market reportedly inactive and "soft," the Vikings have the perfect excuse to try and convince Peterson to re-sign on a team-friendly one-year deal.

The Vikings need a running back, and Peterson needs a place to do what he does best. The problem, however, will be convincing an all-time talent to settle on a minimal contract that doesn't necessarily equate to his talent level.

But for a guy who has only started in 20 games during the last three seasons combined, Peterson doesn't necessarily have a leg to stand on (no pun intended).

The NFL running back market has proven its volatility in the last half-decade or so, and there's a strong chance that teams will flatly deny Peterson a fat contract. If he ends up in that position, AP should cut his losses and re-ink with the Vikings.

The worst case scenario is Peterson either disappoints or re-injures himself again, leading to the same mess in free agency next year. The best case scenario, however, is that Peterson finds his groove again behind a (hopefully) improved offensive line, paving the way for the 31 year old to finish his career in Minnesota.

I say let him go.  With the two injuries or more that he has had and they were bad one's, he is a risk to take a spot on the roster.  good luck.

Not worth it unless he plays for a million.

Honestly the NFL's most successful teams have largely ignored a feature back. Patriots burn through about 10 RB's a year and never seem to suffer. They typically run a committee of 2-3 that are probably solid B/B+ Rb's, but they never splurge on an A+ RB. Teams like Green Bay didn't miss a beat when Eddie Lacy went straight FEAST mode and his joints couldn't handle his bulk. Montgomery stepped in as a hybrid gadget RB and they haven't looked back. Atlanta's high powered offense puts up numbers but by individual players, Davonte Freeman definitely isn't the star of the team.

The NFL is a passing league and it grows that way more each and every season. Big name Rb's just don't have the impact or longevity they once did.

Especially one who is over 30, has shot knees, bad hammies and groins, and has only played about 30% of the time the last few years average.
