The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources released its spring burning restrictions Tuesday, requiring burning permits for most fires in snow-free, open areas.

 :police: ......
The restrictions will take effect on April 10 and will remain in place until grasses green up, the release said.

  :coffee: ..
Small campfires fewer than three feet across are allowed :campfire: but must be attended and put out cold. Permits are also not required for fires in areas covered in unbroken snow.

"Wildfires start and spread easily in the spring when grasses are brown and warm windy days are common," the release said.
