I sure wish you were closer to this area.  The nearst deer processor to me is 63 miles.  He charges $100 for simple steaks chops roasts burger.  Everything else of course is extra as it should be.  If he skins the deer it is another $60.  I found another guy 75 miles east of me that does the same thing for $85 total.  Just found him yesterday though.  That will be my go to place from now on.  I've been doing it myself but would rather pay someone a fair price to do it for me.  Takes me a whole day to do it...

We are up to 485 as of this morning, and took in another 60 popsicles this afternoon. They will have to thaw a little before I can skin them tonight.

WOW HD!  That's an impressive cooler for sure!  I know it was a good season for us.  Quantity AND Quality! We've never all tagged-out before noon until this year.  In fact, come to think of it, I don't think we've ever all tagged out - EVER!

this is what I do barry, maybe you realize this also. The day I shot my deer, I skin it in the evening, after the next in the evening, I pull the straps and the loin and quarter it, the I wrap the quarters in glad platic wrap and freeze. I take out a quarter at a time to use as needed, a few steaks, or grind for burger or sausage, I breack things up into intervals as bussy life is. the platic wrap conforms very nicely and nothing get freezer burnt.. just something to thin about, the only time I take a day to deal with venny is when I'm prepping to smome.

Ya that is what I do Boar.  Hang it for a day or two then put the quarters in the freezer until I have time to cut them up.  Usually a week or two.  Would gladly pay $100 to have it done for me.  I like the sausage and jerky thing but would rather have someone else do the first stage.  I have other things to do at this time of year.....

That video does bring up a good question...

For those of you who just hang them and skin them by hand (assuming you aren't going to cape it out) - no ropes, golf balls, or mechanical pulling...

Do you hang them from their back legs, start skinning there, and work your way down?
Or do you hang them by their head and skin them from top to bottom?

done it both ways...   at home I hang them on a leg spreader from the hind legs get the hide started and then clamp on to it with a chain and hook that to the truck and slowly pull the hide off..

We hang them from the head and pull the hide down. We skins ours soon after they are shot. If shot in the morning we skin when we come in for lunch and if shot in the evening we skin when we come in before eating dinner. It is easy to skin when still warm. We do it all by hand.
Hey look your bobber is up!
