Torsk....the "poor man's lobster", that was such a "big" thing in the 70's. You'd grab a slab of it, and broil with butter. (It's really just cod)  I've got a hankerin' for a big ol' slab of it lately, might haveta hunt down a sale on some thick filets somewhere. I like mine with dill weed, butter, and a sprinkle of Hungarian paprika....

Atlantic cod is now days expensive and tightly controled,Almost fished out!!  just befor thanksgiving we had fish & chips with pacific cod>>We cant stand the pollock! Its all water weight,But not near cod.We did get the big fillets (Chunks) Tastes almost the same just a bit stronger but oh so good!! We get it from a CashWise grocery in Willmar.Kinda seasonal but can be had if you go for the Pacific cod
Keeping America clean and beautiful is a one mans job,Mine

Totally agree about the pollock, dew!  A lb of it baked is like eating a lb of feathers...nuttin' there!
I just had 1 1/4 lbs of pollock filets a few weeks ago, and it cooked down to nothing. Done buying those anemic, skinny filets.

I keep all the eel pout I catch when I do.  But yes I remember torsk.  Love the meaty pieces of cod as well.  good luck.
