Customers came over and put lasagna and garlic bread in the oven. when they came back to check it Judge Judy and I were yelling "grab a rod! Fish on!" With the oven door half open the lasagna got overlooked for a moment as Judy pulled in 2 as fast as she could. Someone from the oven detail only brought up a set of lips - it was chaos and confusion all over the house for 10 minutes as the generator ran out of gas at the same time and we had to flip to 12V fast. But the fish left as fast as they came - they're sure smart - I think they knew when to catch us off guard but they lost a couple trying that tactic this time.

Gosh what a cold and windy week, it takes its toll on mind and body as it's going into the 2nd week of this crap and hurting the fishing for now. As of Saturday night we could starve on what we caught in 2 days time - if we didn't freeze to death first.

We were blessed with some great clients in our houses that made me feel humble. They re-opened not only their house holes but when we went in to get propane they opened ours too - and drilled them to 10". Our fishhouse door was like a swinging door with visitors and it was great.
Then John comes along and asks if there was a spot I would like checked as he was moving his house anyway. So we scoped out a site, man it wasn't the best spot with 48" of ice and had to chisel out the bottom of the hole. Only caught 1 crappie and a cigar eye by morning - guess I won't suggest spots to try for a while now - bummer.
The Dinty Moore stew isn't going down very fast this year because I get invited over for breakfast, dinner and supper. Hey, the wives of these guys are pretty darn good cooks!

We started seeing a new hatch of minnows in our holes Saturday morning, about 1/8" or smaller. To me that's a good sign because the fish feed on them and are attracted to these areas. They don't hatch all at the same time but different areas at different times. My camera can only see about 4 ft max most of the time, the water temp is staying about 46 degrees on the bottom.

The guys next door caught a 15" crappie that weighed in at 1 lb 14 oz
Still using red and green demon glows, tried blue but didn't have much luck. We have seen many a limit of crappies coming in but no location as to what area they were in.
We ended up with 4 crappies and 1 nice eye and Judy outfished me again catching 3 of the crappies.

Still a couple dates open for sleeper rental:
3 bunk for tonight (kinda short notice)
3 or 4 bunk Tues 2-13
3 bunk Wed 2-14
3 bunk Wed and Thurs nights 2-21 & 2-22
