When I work on projects in the garage I put that Gold Fever show on when I see it.  The guy and his wife or daughter go places and meet people and pan for gold.  Kind of looks like a fun hobby.  Anyone ever do it?  (I mean panning for gold Glenn)  I thought of panning on shores of lakes where there is gravel.

My uncle in California used to do it for years, he'd  hike out into the mountains. The summer I was out there, he had a little jar full of gold flakes he'd panned.

I had some carpenter buddies who dredged in Northern Cal. I taged along a few times.I am also certified diver so I did it once friggin cold with a wet suit that didnt fit!
Spent one summer up in Chicken Alaska runnin a dozer and loader on a friends, friend mine.Had a couple nuggets but cashed em in. It was fun plus scenery an fishin.

Yup,it is a fun past time, started panning near breckenridge colo back in the 70's.also the cripple creek area always found flower gold and what they call wire gold (purist form found) and occassional nugget now and then.

Best panning we found was in the Yukon near White Horse, flew into a camp that was dredging, fun times, wet, dirty work and killer insects tapping your blood.

In alaska the park let's miners pan and use  no more than a 4" dredge to work streams in denali national park.Great spot to prospect and be bear aware.
