With the deer firearm opener coming up this Saturday, where are you planning on hunting (general area)? Are you hunting public land, private, or both? Are you hunting by yourself or with a group?

Have you signed up for the MNO 2018 Deer Hunting Contest? Here's a link to that thread: http://mnoutdoorsman.com/forums/index.php?topic=37543.0

Our group hunts in Zone 1 south of Waskish. We own 40 acres and also hunt the surrounding State Forest Land.  Our hunting party is made up of my grandma, dad, aunt, my sister, a family friend, and me and three of my four kids.

I've hunted the same land south of Hillman for the past 42 years and have owned property there for the past 30 years.  Mostly family and a few friends hunt the rifle season.  Probably 6-7 hunters for the first few days then less throughout the week and then 5-7 on the last weekend.  It's kind of a revolving door as some hunt a day or two and some hunt 7 of the nine days. I usually hunt at least part of 7-8 days during the season.  We don't do drives so it doesn't matter if there is one or 7 hunters there at a given time.  Each person makes it their own hunt.

Get up early, make coffee....shag the kids out of bed ....sit in my recliner, drinking my coffee.....yell at the kids what time daybreak is..... help them find their gloves, coats, hand warmers and boots.....get their guns ready....walk them out to the stand...

THEN..... I head to my stand

Going down to Rock County where I grew up.  Hunted with a buddy there for 24 years and haven't hunted together since I moved way up here.  He has had some prostrate issues that are under control but he called and said maybe we should hunt together again this year.  I am all in since I now have the time.  His land is so beautiful it is like being in Montana.  Hills and fields etc.  I made a nice stand there years ago that still stands.  Will have my heater in there and I love the view....

Brother Boar is a man of many words. I spend the first 7 days a deer camp near Skime in area 101 Then we hunt the 2nd and 3rd up by lake of the woods on the state forest land which is near our house. After the struggle last season we are hoping for a better season this year.
Hey look your bobber is up!

Very much looking forward to the opener.  My wife's family sold their farm in April, so we bought a place of our own in area 258.  Excited to see what the new place has for deer and learn how to hunt it.
