With the coming of spring means the end of ice, Which I am going to miss a bunch. Which brings me to my ? what is everybody planning for their first fishing outting after ice out. Some may have already been out in the boat or from shore, lets here the stories or plans.

What I think of first when the ice first comes off is smelting. It does get a person real cold at times when the air temp is still below freezing and the water temp is just above freezing. Those nights out in the cold with a bunch of good friends enjoying the outdoors. Seems to make ya forget about the cold, wind and how down right nasty the weather can be that time of yr. Sometimes a fire is built on shore to go warm up by between pulls.

As much enjoyment as I get out of it I can't help but remember how much work it actually can be. Making many pulls til wee hours of the morning and then get up next morning and have to clean up all them little buggers. Do it all over again the next day usually on very little sleep. I ready for this yr again. Which reminds me I think I have a pic from last yr.

Here is a picture of jiggle after 4 days of smelting. ;D He was so plumb tired that he laid down in the back of his truck for some rest. ::) Now he normally looks slightly more handsome than this according to his wife.

Looks just like Jiggle, somebody wake him up and get him a beer.
Behold The Fisherman. He riseth up early in the morning and disturbeth the whole household. Mighty are his preparations!
He goeth forth full of hope, and when the day is spent--- He returneth smelling of strong drink and the truth is not in him!
