My kids 8 & 12yo have never seen it snow like this before.  I told them...this is what "normal" used to be when I was a kid!  The last time I can remember a storm that these past few have even come close to in comparison would be Feb/March of '85.  (Not 100% sure of the months-therefore covered my butt by mentioning both!  ;)

You guys are forgetting Halloween in 1991 (I think that was the year anyway).  We got several feet of snow that night.

I do believe you are right Hedrocks!   I was the only car driving that afternoon in North St. Cloud.  Even the plows came out after I did!  The reason the storm of '85 sticks in my mind was, a snowdrift went from the ground over the deck past the front door all the way to the roof!  Lots of fun digging your house out!  ;D

I just remember that because I was a junior in high school and took my parents car out to a party that night and went in the ditch on my way there.  That didn't stop me from drinking though.  I guess I was just a stupid kid from nothern Minnesota.

Had 2 halloweens in a row with over a foot of snow. I think in 92 we got 13-14". I can't remember if it was 96 or 97 but our town ship road was plugged for 3 days before we got it pushed clean. Had to take mom to work on the sled. It was 32 miles one way, but she stayed there til the road was clear. That wasn't easy either as she had to bring her purse and it's the size of a large leaf bag.

This is the kind of snow storm I remember from when I was in Jr High or a little younger yet maybe. We lived out north of Waseca in Southern Mn and had a couple rows of large evergreen trees that were at least 25-30 feet tall. The snow drifts most winters after a good storn were at least half way up the trees and over the top of our front deck which sat about 6-8 feet above the ground level on the northeast corner of our house. Those were some fun storms.

Now I have a driving job with FedEx and put on around 300 miles a day, and needless to say I do not look forward to getting storms like this anymore. It is still nice to have snow though. My son loves going out and making trails around the yard, buiilding snowmen and snowangels, and sliding down the slide from his fort into a big pile of snow.

Have fun shoveling and blowing.
