After I've been a customer with no problems for 10 years
AND
All it costed them in that 10 years was two phones for me and one for my wife.
Now my phone (which is twenty-one months old) dies three months before my two year contract expires. 
So if I pay $50 and sign ANOTHER two year contract, they'll give me a USED phone
Well sooo long you buncha %#&*'s

Ok, now that I'm done ranting
I'm seriously considering VERIZON.
Verizon customers, I would love to hear your feedback (good or bad)

Although I work for Alltel in SD.  I think Verizon would be a much better choice then Sprint.  It work's on URL.

You should pay that phone insurance fee.

I have sprint and if anything happens to my phone my fault or not they replace it.

I've actually been with them for probably 8 years? I do like them. I also get a 25% discount so it is cheaper for me to stay with them then go elsewhere.

Ya know; if I dropped it in the toilet OR ran over it in the driveway, I'd gladly buy a new phone rather than pay that da#ned insurace fee.
BUT
When the only place the phone has ever been is in my pocket, on my desk at work, or on my bedroom dresser
AND
It goes dead three months before my contract is over, that's not an insurance (i.e. "I had an accident with my phone") issue.  That's a defective product issue.

It almost appears as if they design them to fail at about two years to that you come in to get a new phone and they can sign you up for another two year contract by enticing you with the next free phone

The phone insurance fee's from most carriers are $5.00 a month per phone.  So, if you pay it on a 2 year agreement, it's $120.00.  Then there is a deductable of at least $50.00.  So, it is not always a good investment.  Unless you go through a lot of phones.

Verizon does have a better network then Sprint.  You can really see the difference when you are in rural places.  If you are in the metro area most of the time, or on the main highways, then you won't notice much of a difference.

I work for a company that is a competitor of both of these companies.  This is my professional opinion.

I switched from sprint to verizon about 8 years ago and glad I did. I get much better netwok coverage and so far no problems. The last two time I resigned two year contracts I have gotten new phones always on sale and end up free. So far no major complaints.

i am verizon... best coverage in the state.  I even got coverage in the middle of the BWCA when I was in an exact spot on a hilltop campsite.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

I honestly do not think that one cell phone company is better than the other. They are all crooks!

It is also hard to say one has better coverage than the other.

I have Sprint and my brother has Verizon. I get better coverage on Millle Lacs than he does. Another friend has t-mobile and gets horrible coverage on the lake but in Isle she gets better coverage than both of us! When I hunt out west it is a tie. Some times I will get the better service and then other times my friend with t-mobile gets better service.

The key here is to get free roaming. You phone should roam EVERYWHERE. With Sprint I have never been out of range. Always get a single.

Another friend has Verizon and does not get service at his house. When I am there I get service fine......

This can go around and around and around. Get free roaming, you'll never have this conversation again ;D

Don't even bring T-mobile into this conversation.  They are the bottom of the barrel.  They use GSM technology which is common in Europe not here.  I have worked in the wireless industry for almost 9 years.  Verizon is a better company then Sprint.   Next subject.  ;D

I switched to Verizon back in November 06, and i'm glad I did. Before that I was with T Mobile and had great coverage throughout Minnesota, but there customer service was terrible.

I strongly believe you will have the best coverage with Verizon, but more importantly it depends on the phone you have.

My Verizon is an all digital and loses signal up North in certain areas, my older T Mobile phone was a quad band phone and worked great in the areas that i lose signal with the Verizon phone.

I'm going to go back to a Verizon phone that is not all digital soon.

 ???  only been with 1 company since 96! so in 10 yrs. had to replace 1 phone when it got droped in the water hole beside the trk. and it froze in over nite . what they did was give me a used phone till they could find out if my unit was fixable , well guess what ? it could,nt so they gave me the opp. of either keeping the phone i had or buy a new 1 with the insurance that i bought when i first started. well that ment another 2 yr plan ?? so much for insurance !! ?? kept the old phone and finely had to buy a new one last fall at full cost and no insurance . so dont waste your money !! go buy fishin tackle or hunting supplies !! >:(       
   OH! by the way it,s cell one ???  live and learn ?

Well I have fished all over Mille Lacs,Winnie and Leech,hunted all of Eastern South Dakota, Northern Minn, traveled on busness to Cleveland Ohio and even has service in Canada for a short ways in with Verizon.

Never have I not been able to call out or recieve calls, so I would switch to Verizon if I were you.

Thier customer service is rated best in consumer reports as well, I have not been charged for any help they have given me in re conecting the old phone after the wife droped her new on in the tube either.

I travel by train to go to Oregon and on 1 trip I needed to make a call now mind you at this time I am in Cut Bank Montana and I had no service with sprint. When I traveled I found out that from minot to washington i had no service with them i called them and the told me oh we are sorry but  there is no towers in that part of the country I guess the train was to close to Canada lmao so when i got back i switched to verizon and to this day i have no trouble making or receiving calls in that area go figure So to make my point...... sprint stinks lol

i have had  sprint, "t" Mobile, nextel , and AT@T, i traveled the midwest for ten years in the trades, i think that what i have been hearing from all of my construction friendsis verizon  is the best ticket out there. however , most of the tradesmen  i know have two phones, they need a two way for day to day and that is with nextel . so...........i guess if i were not in business and needed  my two way  i would go with verizon . good luck .  p.s being in the trades  we would get the insurance for one year  and then cancel it.  we had a lot of broken phones.  have you ever seen what a 24 thousand pound load of stone    does to a phone when you run it over ??   not pretty  but the phone was replaced.    cheers   scott

It's not at all about signal availability. 

IT'S ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE (OR LACK THEREOF)

I've been able to get a signal all over Minnesota.  Mille Lacs, Leech, URL, LOTW.  The only dead spots I've had are in half of my own house. 

Benny, I'm encouraged by your assessment of Verizon's customer service.  I talked to some friends last night who have Verizon and they have never had trouble having phones replaced.

Chaz, funny you should mention Cut Bank Montana. 
I grew up about 100 mi NE of there.   ;D  eh?  ;D
My parents are still there and we're going out there next week.  Looks like I'll be going back there more frequently in the next 10 years than I have in the last 10 years.  AND Verizon is THE choice there.  So I'm more and more convinced that's the way to go.
