Long tough day today. We had to make the tough decision to put our handsome 15 1/2 year old Gordon Setter down. We have dreaded the day for several years as his ability to navigate stairs and other health problems have showed up.
Never hunted him although he has ancestry that includes both field and bench champions.
Deaf for the last several years, and suffering from the struggle of mobility, but still maintained a great attitude. He was the happiest dog I’ve ever owned, even through this morning.
That’s what made it really hard, because he  looked up as if to say it was ok, even as the anesthesia was setting in.
Hug your pups for me.

My condolences fw. Never easy. As requested, Poppy got a big hug.

So sorry to hear. Pets give us so much love and it's so hard when we have to let them go. I'm snuggling with my boys right now and giving them extra kisses. 🥲

Only thing wrong with dogs is they don't live long enough.  They are a part of our lives but we are their lives.  Sorry for your loss.

So sorry FW.  He had a great life with you.  You did the right thing.  Each one hurts a little more than the last one I think.  That is a sign that you loved them so much.  I feel for you and I too have a tear for him.

Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate your thoughts. Goes a long way to helping.
My other pal, Bosco, knows something is up because of the difference in the regular daily routine, and probably because of the mood in the house right now. He’ll get over it, and I’m sure he will help us in the next few days, too.
Thanks again, everybody.

So sorry for the loss and emptiness.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.
