The walleye and pike season ended this weekend.  Both cabins caught walleye.  Rick and Paul both limited out on crappie this weekend  with quite a few over 15 inches.

The snow finally came this weekend.  We had about 9 inches of snow.   I had quite a surprise when I was putting the plow on Saturday night.  I was putting the last pin in when my Friendly Rooster snuck under the four wheeler and pecked at my head.  I jumped about two feet in the air, and then I remembered that he liked to ride on the four wheeler when I plowed last year.  He was also waiting for  another ride on Sunday morning.

The ice is still very thick (36 inches +)  Our ice fishing season should extend through the month of March, and maybe into April

The Crappie action is picking up.  They have seemed to move out from under the rough ice, and are moving into the staging area for spawning. The fishing is a lot better than it was the last two weeks.

Well I don't know how they can bite any better than they did for me when I was up 2 weeks ago (but I consider myself lucky), but that's great to hear!  A good part of me wants to try to figure out a way I can make it up again only this time bring my son-he'd SOOOO love to catch a URL crappie!  Time & money will only tell.  Thanks for the report Meadow Creek!  Russ & Judy-I hope your right about the snow-I only have my 1/2 ton truck and getting stuck up there is not something I EVER want to happen! ;)

I hope to make it up there next week.  Are the crappies being caught out of JR'S?  Would love to catch some out of there.
