Yeah northeast south dakota is loaded with glacier shield lakes loaded with a variety of species of fish, issue is consumption, these small lakes/sloughs are polluted with farm chemicals, but catching is still great fun.

in my younger years working in AK,once  every mid summer week a few of us would fly in to lake "illiamna",a huge lake surrounded by snow capped valcano's,very beautiful with 13 species of fish, back in the 50's the state planted pike in the lake to keep native trout from stunting which became a problem for native species of fish, the booming population of pike became over bearing,I remember reading the alaskan game/fish proclamation by fish species,"pike could be taken 12months/year,no limit no restrictions to harvest....including pitch fork and dynamite, but this was in the late 80's,today with several out post camps/lodges on this giant lake I'm sure regs have changed, our fly-in trips we camped,no lodges, but plenty of fish-n-bears.

Largest was 35"s,this little slough is loaded with these shooters, they keep the jumbo perch population in check
