seen that the other day. there is also comments over in sillytown.

SO........... as a former union thug.........long story short............if that particular language is ruled illegal............and i'm sure it will be at some point there going to have to renegotiate that language.

like i stated in sillytown.........every agreement i've laid my eyes on has a provision or some call them articles that state if any "article or provision" of any agreement is deemed to violate state or federal laws, the parties will agree to renegotiate  that section of the agreement to abide by the state and/of federal law!!!!!

unions only as good as it's membership.  And if that is what the dues paying members some how ask for the rep needs to propose it. It's not the reps contract. They can only suggest things  but Yea giving up senority like that sucks.

JB I started seeing senority deteriorating years ago. Still on of  :doah:my hardcore beliefs. Start at the bottom and work your way up, but this younger workforce is all about me and doesn't think it's got to put there time in .

Yes, this is messed up. However, my understanding is that there is a shortage of teachers rather than layoffs.

Makes sense I suppose. I doubt they’ll never have another round of layoffs at some point in the future.

I can’t wait to read the news in upcoming months/years when all the teachers left the minneapolis school district and have gone else where…cause, you know, everyone’s hiring and why would you stick around a racist work force??? That city focked

yea i dont see teacher layoffs but.......maybe its my union thug mentality but if i got 10 years on the next most senior teacher and i get laid off because of color of skin or nationality i'd be friggin pissed!!!!!!!!!!1

its the most racist  :bs: i've seen. i can see it in say a shop class..........thats an area where they seem to be cutting that type of class.......where something like this happens.

when i negotiated contracts we changed language in the layoff article that in the event 2 people where hired the same day..........they went by there SS #. why, because if you went by age..........that was age discrimination. you'd be surprised how much politically correct language we changed!!! :doah: :doofus:

Kind of off topic but how much sense does it make to cut classes in the trades when there is such a huge demand for people who can work with their hands.

Ya pretty assinine.  Some schools are bringing the trades back and that is the direction we need to go.  They are creating a very nice welding shop at the school here.  Meat cutting is also going to be offered at Vo Techs again.   :happy1:

It doesn't make sense Roony. They started cutting them out back when my kids were in school. The 80's. Money??? And I personally think in part back even when I was in high school the general idea was everyone needed to go to college.

Even vo tech schools where short students, but it's getting better. I can only speak for the union I belonged to but there apprenticeship classes are full now but lose a few. The other trades do have apprenticeship program also

:happy1: Beat me to it, glenn. They are almost guaranteed an apprenticeship with a good company when they are in the trade schools these days & that usually leads to a job offer when they graduate. A no brainer from where I sit. :doah:

And in their rush to create that total service economy, they forgot how the system is intertwined. They created a stigma towards those who actually get their hands dirty creating something from raw material. Could see this coming some time ago:

And now a college degree isn't even the goal for many youths.

They think they can all be entrepreneurs and strike it rich being "influencers" on social media if they can just find a way to get a baj-illion followers.

Legit... I have friends who have kids who have this aspiration.  Fortunately for most of my friends, their kids have a Plan B that involves real career training, but this is "a thing" that parents today have to deal with.

Our neighbor kids are the same. I laughed at first, but honestly, it's no different then when we were kids and wanting to play a pro sport...it's just another dream/opportunity these youngsters have. Go for it...but like you said, better have a plan B.

That heavy equipment operators course the IUOE have is doing great.  They have them all over the country I think.  The one near Hinckley is where the people around here attend.  I used to go to annual 3 day refreshers at Lakeville.
