Was just having this conversation with a buddy the other day. We had tickets for the Green day/weezer concert the summer of 2020 but we all know what happened. After all the civil unrest, we decided we wouldn't go downtown when offered in 2022.

That said, the one band I regret never seeing was Tom Petty. I hope I can check out Green Day at some other venue as I grew up with them.

There are a lot of big names and bands I never saw - but didn't really have the gumption to go see either.  The Stones were here several times; I didn't care.  Bob Dylan is from Minnesota; he was too aloof for my taste.  The list goes on.

The ones I regret...

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.  I like acts with great bands (like Springsteen and the E Street Band).

Prince - in the top 5 guitar players of all time* - but there was usually just too much hype and hoopla to get tickets for his auditorium shows.  I had friends that would bounce from club to club in downtown Minneapolis hoping to catch him doing a surprise set, but I didn't want to work that hard.  He played a show at the Myth in 2013 and tickets were $250 each.  I didn't want to invest $500 to see him play so we passed.  Turns out he donated all of that money to charity, but that still didn't change my mind.  He died 3 years later.

I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn twice, BUT...  I really wanted to road trip to what turned out to be his last concert in Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, but didn't.
:pouty:

* Eric Clapton was asked what it felt like to be the greatest player in the world.  He replied, "I don't know, ask Prince."

I don't want to suggest that I'm old but, the last concert I actually paid to see was The Temptations and The Four Tops. It's been a long time.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

I've seen lots of concerts over the years but started thinking about it and there are a lot bands I would've liked to have seen. First and foremost would be Led Zeppelin. Had the chance in college but didn't capitalize on it. John Bonham's demise ended that. At the time, I wasn't a huge fan. As time has worn on, one sees their fingerprints all over rock and roll, in particular those of Jimmy Page. Others include The Police, pre-plane crash Skynyrd (saw them afterwards), CSN, The Cars, Steely Dan, & The Eagles. One guy who's still going and I really want to see is George Thorogood. Molly Hatchet as well. They were a no-show at a concert I had tickets for a few years back. Kinda pi$$ed me off...

I saw my idol Clapton twice.  Once back in the 70's outdoors in New Orleans.  Fantastic.  John Lennon was mayhaps a surprise but no verification.  Once in St. Paul in the what?  Convention Center???  That's not it.  We stayed at the St Paul Hotel.  Long ago.  Was awesome.  We walked right over from the hotel.  Old but cool hotel. 70's also.

I've written about this before but the Freeborn Co. Fair offers a wonderful opportunity to see all those acts you wanted to see but couldn't. Some are lacking some of their original pieces while some remain wonderfully intact or in some cases are up and coming. There I've seen acts such as America, BTO, Three Dog Night, Charlie Daniels, Uncle Ted (2x). Waylon Jennings, The Gin Blossoms, The Beach Boys, Marshall Tucker, 38 Special, Trisha Yearwood, Neil McCoy, The Oak Ridge Boys, and the list goes on. State Fair has been great as well to see folks like Neil Young w/Nicolette Larson, ZZ Top (2x) & Def Leppard with seats close to the stage.

Todd Rundgren would be another guy to add to the list of potential people to see.

The only concert I went to was Jethro Tull in 1977 (I think) at the St. Paul Civic Center (LPS). It was general admission and we managed to get seats 10th row center stage. It was their first concert in the USA for a bunch of years and was great. Had tickets to go to Fleetwood Mac the next Spring at Midway Stadium but had to go to work instead. Was pretty bummed on that one. One concert I would love to go to would have been Led Zepplin with John B. and the whole group. Right Dotch!!!. :happy1: :happy1:

I have seen the Beach Boys and Creedence.

Would have liked to have seen Tina Turner. She puts on great live shows. Also same for Trans Siberian Orchestra at Christmas time.

Call me a fudy dudy but I could give 2 chits less about every band out there. Live songs is so much different than the songs we grew up with on the radio. I just couldn't get myself to pay big bucks watching a show on stage. I do tho enjoy watching the documentaries on the bands on Hulu, the behind the scenes stuff on how they became.

I forgot about going to see the Gatlin Brothers. Their warmup act was a short red headed gal in a green dress no one knew named Reba McIntire. After her first song I looked at the wife said I think she’ll go places. :happy1: :happy1:

I had to think about this. I must be getting old. I think I would rather see and hear a symphony orchestra.

Hey, TT. I’ve got a really wide range if musical tastes  I did see a group called The Moscow Virtuosi about 30 years ago at the Ordway, and it was really good. Probably wouldn’t see them now, because of the Ukraine thing, although Putin has probably jailed them anyway.

Back on topic, I can’t think of many performers that fit into bands I want to see but didn’t. I like the smaller venues vs the big  Target Center type places.

I just thought of another one...

It must have been in the early or mid 80s when Cab Calloway came to play the Prom Ballroom in St. Paul.  I remember not being able to talk any of my friends into going.  I knew Cab Calloway was an iconic performer and at some point in the future I would have loved to be able to say, "I saw Cab Calloway sing 'Minnie the Moocher'."
