Closed on my new property today

After a bitch of a year, I closed on my new land today near Togo. Kind of bittersweet with losing my wife, but a new place to spend time with the kids and grand-kids.

72 acres with timber, meadows, and a beaver pond. It has a mix of aspen, spruce, fir, and a few birch and maple. There is also some swamp area, but overall a great piece of land.

Thanks for well wishes. My dad also had a hunting shack when I was small on Bottonbox Lake between Togo and Effie. So while I haven't been in the area for about 50 years, when I was looking to buy, this area came to mind.

My son and I are going up Sunday to clear the "driveway" of trees and brush. Then we are going to explore a bit. Get to know the land.

Togo isn't all that far from the cabin. Don't recall ever being there during the summer but was always a snowmobile destination.

Been meaning to get back to this thread so belated condolences on losing your wife and congrats on your recent acquisition. Looks like a beautiful area for exploration and discovery.

Thanks guys...My son and I went up this past weekend and cut open a driveway. Lot's of fun, and now I can drive into the meadow. I have to widen it a bit but it works for now. I checked and I can have class 5 gravel brought in for about $375 and then I just need to spread it. Hopefully I can find a local with a skid-steer or tractor to spread it.

The real work will start in the spring...

That's great Glenn s ! And I'm sorry to hear about the Mrs. also. We've had lots of gravel put on our drive over the years also,  they usually went real slow and spread it around as they dumped so we never really did much for spreading,  but that was back in the 80's , maybe deliveries have changed since then. Good luck, I'm jealous!!

Tell the guy to hook his chains to put down a 4" layer as he dumps it. Any good truck driver will make the road almost perfect this way. No real need for bobcat work.
