I recently participated in my local Fire Department’s Citizen Academy! This was a several week program with the last day being our graduation and a ride up 100′ in the tower truck! It was a really fun program and I would encourage anyone to check and see if your local FD hosts a citizen academy – it’s a great way for citizens to learn more about the fire department and all the amazing things these brave men and women do!

I’m thankful to the people worked together to coordinate such a great citizen program for the community! It was fun to learn and get to try different things like busting open a door with a halligan, putting out a car fire, and using the jaws of life… they are HEAVY!!

And a BIG thank you to anyone who currently works for their fire department. You are heros!

Way cool. Way to get out there and take the time to learn what all they do. I also would like to say a Big Thank you to all Military Members, Police, and firefighters out there for all that you do to protect us and keep us say. I know that you don't often hear it as often as you should, But THANK YOU !!!

Sounds like fun. I am glad you are not switching professions.  I don’t think you would look good in a mustache. Was it easier to bust through a door with a halligan or an exterior wall with a sledgehammer? Just wondering since I’ve seen how easy you went through an exterior wall. (The wall has been repaired :doah:)

Uhhh well the sledgehammer at your place was lots of fun! But the extra strength might have had something to do with the beers beforehand!  :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

That’s pretty neat Sharon.

Did you ever think about joining? I’ve been a volunteer fire fighter for almost 17 years now. Like most others, our city is hurting for people. It’s a great way to make friends and have fun seeing the community…plus you get to see some cool stuff!

That looks like it would have been fun. Maybe 40 years ago. Glad you did this. Great experience.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.
