The one downside to the warm short winter is that all of the rearing ponds won't winterkill. 
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

If the fry that are still in the pond that werent trapped and put into lakes or winterkilled will eat all of the little fry that dnr puts into next spring.  Dnr counts on winter kill to get maximum fry in the fall.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

I've fished these rearing ponds after 3 or 4 non winterkill years.  It's lights out for a couple weeks.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.
