This movie is coming out this summer at select locations, and only for a brief amount of time.  Would anyone be interested in making it a MNO Racing/ Fawkinnae Racing "get together" of sorts?  This way we could meet and greet one another before the movie.  And maybe hang out at a bar/pub afterwards.

The only showing in Minnesota will be in Minneapolis.  Of course everything is tentative since we don't know the exact dates/showtimes/location.  The Tentative dates are:

Minneapolis        July 10-12 & 17-19
Link to the movie---->   http://www.cmt.com/movies/dale/

Count Team WFO & The Dominators in! ;)

PS-bring a box or 2 of Kleenex-if you're a true Dale fan, you'll need them.  :'(

This movie was released in Feb. But only in select locations.  It originally was slated for showing in Duluth & Minneapolis-but upon checking I see they dropped Duluth.  At least for now.   :(   I'll keep updating this as things progress.

I think it would be fun to sit around afterwards in a bar/pub and talk over the movie, ect.  Who else is interested in going?

You know you can count me in Brutha Woodrow. I am an AAAAAVVVVIIIIIIDDDDDD Earnhardt fan. You know Woody, you've seen the pics of my "NASCAR" room.

I have a sort of permanent link to Dale's untimely passing; my son was born on Friday Feb 16, 2001. 2 days before Dale's death.

We came home from the hospital just in time to see the drop of the green flag on Sunday for the 500. After the crash and the end of the race (I didn't think the crash looked that bad and knew Dale would be crawling out and giving Marlin and Schrader crap for not being a little easy on him) I ran out to get us some supper as we did not have alot of stuff at home at the time.

As I am sitting in the drive thru, a buddy of mine calls my cell phone and as I answer he says "I'm sorry to hear about his death". I'm thinking that he for some reason thinks my son died during delivery so I correct him and tell him that my son is fine, in fact he is at home with mom and his grandparents right now. He says "No man, I mean Dale...Dale died in that crash. Didn't you know?"

I immediately went numb. I just sat there for what seemed like days, until the guy behind me starts honking and yelling for me to pull ahead. I drove right through, not stopping to get what I had ordered and bawled like a school girl for the next several hours.

I couldn't watch a race for the next several months without losing it. Lap 3 was especially hard with the tributes they did at each track with a Lap of Silence in respect for Dale. Atlanta helped some when Kevin won in only his 3rd race with Childress replacing Dale. I bawled then too, but that was a good one. I still have the tape and pull it out and watch it occasionally.

Dale was a true role model and sort of hero for the average working Joe. He fought hard for everything he got. He was a hard nose, take all I can get racer on the track, and a generous, give all I can father, husband, friend and outdoorsman off the track. The only stipulation he ever had when he helped someone was that they never tell anyone what he did.

We all lost a great friend and hero when Dale passed.

Sorry for going off on this, but this is something near and dear to my heart. Hope to see a bunch of you in the Cities for this in July.

Brotha RT-thanks for sharing that story.  I too remember that day quite well.  I too figured Dale would be getting out, and that he may be in a lil pain but "ol Ironhead" would prevail.  I could go on, but no need to.

There is one thing I'd like to clear up about Dale-he NEVER handed Jr. a thing!  He made Jr. work for everything he got.  Jr's first car was bought with his brother Kerry.  They were their own pit crew on it as well.  In fact Jr half expected to be working at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet instead of being a driver.  My desktop has a picture of Jr & Sr. the caption read "I may have taught you everything you know, but I didn't teach you everything I know!"  That is Dale all the way!   ;)

As far as the discounted tickets, I was kind of hoping to find out how many were going, then check on that.  Then surprise everyone by telling them we could get a group discount.  (Great minds think alike!) ;)  I'd rather have a number of people in the group to call them with, regarding a group discount.  That's why I'm announcing this a few months in advance. ;)
