Some of my favorite jigs come from Southern Pro Tackle. The Little Hustler and Panfish Stinger are a couple of my favorites.
I also like the Gypsy Jig and a plain jig head with a spinner tipped with a fathead.
All of these jigs have worked well at one time or another and I keep a good supply of all of them on hand. I have also found that plastics work well alone with a squirt of crappie attractant, when the conditions are right.

So what crappie baits are a must have in your tackle box?
Here's to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold pint-- and another one!

Doesn't seem to matter to me to be honest.  One day they want plastics.  The next they want minnows.  Then waxies.  Jig size and color will vary with the above.  If there is one thing I've learned in the past 15 years of spring crappie fishing is that yesterday was then and today's success is an experiment.

I tell you what, after using JR's Diamond Eye Jig, this will be my "go to" jig tipped with a minnow for crappies, I think Spinach will second this.

I like and use a lot of differnt jigs, but the only jig that I absolutely need is a cheap mini jig in red and white, the mini jig is perfect size and the tubes seem to last 4x as long as the newer tubes, I usually trim a bit of the tail off of the tubes too.

All i need to do is tip it with a minnow or a waxie, if red/white aint working, just replace the tube with a different color. Crappies, Bluegills, Bass and even an occassional Walleye love the old fashioned mini jig.

I have been using JR's new Diamond Eye jig this winter too, that is definitely my new go to jig in the winter, I'm definitely gonna use them for open water and give a report here.

I can't say that I've caught enough crappies to have a go to bait yet.

BUT I did catch a whole bunch of them last spring (several outings) on a 1/16 oz. Roadrunner with a little plastic grub. And with the roadrunner I felt like I was able to cover more water. In the past I've more typically fished them (crappies) with a bobber.

I have 3 jigs that I can not go without. I need a a red/white and a pink/white small tube jigs. I don't care who makes them or where I get them. The head should be black.

I also want a very small balck flu flu.

These 3 jigs are what I use every year and catch lots of crappies. Been using the same thing for over 20 years!

My go to jig is a fuzz-e-grub.  Been using them ever since I was a kid and have caught numerous fish on them. :donatello:

I agree on Flu Flus.  If I had one and only one jig to choose from with consistant sucess, Flu Flu wins.  Also great for sunnies.
