March fishing - pics

Hey all!
It has been a great winter of ice fishing, but like every year in the past, once March rolls around I get tired of looking down a hole in the ice and get the itch to fling flies at trout.
A buddy and I hit the lodge on the 4th and targeted the two warmest hours of the day.  We really lucked out and experienced success that doesn't come around too often.  We put about 11 or 12 fish in the net that taped between 18" and 25".  On 2wt. rods, no less!  Bent those blanks right down to the hook-keepers!
If you're targeting Mar. trout, be sure to hit them midday through the afternoon.  Scuds, PTs, Hares Ears, Princes all work well, just be sure to target the deeper runs and pools and get those flies down deep.  This time of year, midges are always a consideration, too.  Tandem rigs with a midge emerger for a dropper can be quite productive.
Here are some shots.  The brown was "smaller" but was obviously well-fed.  The streams are in good shape.  It was a beautiful day to be out there.

Well, sometimes a bit of inspiration is a good thing indeed.  One thing about trout: they don't live in ugly places. 
Even if the fishing is so-so, it is great to get out on a beautiful stream.

Impressive pics.  Were in you southern MN?  Do you want to say more about where?  Taking the kids out Sunday this week.  Forecast now says thunderstorms.  Your story gives me the itch.

I've never fished for trout-although it's high on the list!  My grandfather used to live in S.E. Mn in a small town of Wykoff.  He used to trout fish regularly and I heard many stories of his trout fishing trips.  He died when I was 9, so I wasn't able to get out trout fishing with him.  I have ALOT to learn.  Such as-what fish are those in each picture?  I am guessing that the last picture is the Brown trout you spoke of.  Is fly fishing the only way to catch them?  I'm sure it's probably the preferred way at the very least.  Thanks for sharing.  They sure are gorgeous fish!

That's gotta be in SE Minnesota. I'd say Trout run or somewhere in the Whitewater.

Thanks for the pictures 7pines, I had to take a class in college on fly tying (yep had too) I was young and never took interest now that I am a little older, you have cracked my interest again. Thanks LUVNLIFE

I love fly fishing! I do not go nearly enough though. Everytime I go I tell myself this is something I have to do more of! The problem is that there are just so many things to do! What I have is a time issue! Hopefully when I am retired some day....hopefully does not coem soon.....that I have good health and lots of Money to spend every day outdoors doing the things that I love!

So the point of my post...If you love fishing and you love the outdoors, which I am sure you do, then there is no reason you would not like fly fishing. At leaste that is what I think......

I'm still trying top guess where this is. If not the driftless, i'd say up north or a private pond created by a stream with a man made dam. I'm assuming that this is in Minnesota, right? One more spot, between Woodbury and Afton?
