Just as another option for you is Larry at Maplewood Marine 651-776-0645.  Thought it might be closer for you.

I have a guy who works out of his garage by evening and weekend. He is a whiz when it comes to anything that has a motor. Has done some outboard work for us and is very cheap.

Interested? I can set you up.

What area do you live in?

If you're in the NE metro, try Hoss Performance.
They are on Hwy 61 just south of White Bear.  (two doors south of Nelson Marine)

Over the course of 2 years, my outboard was starting hard (or not at all) and was losing power about halfway into its acceleration. i had it to three different dealership shops within those two years.  Two shops struck out completely but were more than happy to charge me for their wasted time.  Nelsons found why it was starting hard and got that fixed.  But only Hoss was able to diagnose the power loss.  Once he diagnosed it, anybody could have fixed it.

If you still need your motor fixed I know a couple of marine techs that might be able to help you.  PM me if you are interested
