Fish, you and me are buds but we will always see things not exactly the same when it comes to politics

 Gas prices:

we were told that our high gas prices where because we had reached our refining capacity and could not refine enough fuel to meet our demands.

Well, we have built NO new refineries

We haven't stopped driving anymore cars and trucks.

we haven't started drilling in ANWR

The war in Iraq is still going on

The middle east isn't anymore stable

now china is raising hell and setting off nukes

China and India are still using tons of crude oil as they have been

and gas prices continue to go down or remain stable

The oil industry is friends with the Republican party and it would be in their best interest to lower gas prices and hope that it help keep the Republicans in control come election time.

The Republicans have the same Envrio outlook as big business/oil industries do.

Minnesota had the biggest loss of jobs in one month since the 1950s last month

Pawlenty raised the price of every Lic. and fee the state charges, pulled state $$$ at  the local and county level, causing them to raise property taxes and other local fee's and taxes.

Our States greed for it's stumpage caused the largest wood industry in the state to close three plants and shut down the logging Ind. in the nortn putting many, many families out of work/money with winter comming on. The steamroll effect from these closures will be felt far and wide in the northland this winter.

That and our dedicated funding for our outdoors has failed to be passed two years in a row. I stood there and listened to the BS promisses from both sides on our capital steps. I say the hell with all of them

I say vote every single person in office OUT!!!

Start fresh and if they can't get the job done

 KICK THEM ALL OUT AGAIN!!!

We are the boss and if you don't perform...hit the road...we will find someone who can.

This 80 something year old guy in office for the last 50 years thing has got to go.

Names like Kennady, Bush and the likes have passed their offices and life styles down from generation to generation.

300 million people in this country and we can't find more than a few prominit families to elect to office. I say they need to go, they have stayed WAY! too long.

I'll give you that big oil companies may be dropping the price to FAVOR the rep's. That in itself is surely a possibility but it in no way equates to the Politicians lowering the prices, they have no control.

OPEC is gonna cut production to get the prices back up, this is easily substantiated. They just voted to do so last week.

There are alot of crooked politicians out there, but I don't think putting the Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton Nancy Pelosi's back in charge is gonna fix a damn thing.

Term limits of 4 years is the real answer.

then tell me where the excuses play into this equation. the "refinery had a fire" the "pipeline in alaska reptured" etc.
if the futures market are what are driving the cost of the barrel, which is what effectively drives the prices at the pump.
then tell me why the prices jump before the weekend and fall after the weekend.
tell me why they soar just before a holiday weekend.
if the reason they give is because of the higher demand for those periods, then why do we not see rationing?
it is blatant price gouging period.
when they will open the opportunities for utilzing alternative fuels without tieing the hands of those doing the research, I will have a little bit less of an argument, but not much.

I don't think politicians have any direct control over the prices we pay at the pump, but I can definitely see oil companies benefiting from a Republican majority.?

The "supply/demand" argument used when we see higher prices at the pump prior to a holiday weekend is just plain BS.?

If demand was that much greater, wouldn't we see the price jump after the holiday weekend?

$2.09 at the "gas and sip" by my house this morning.?

one of the laborers at the refinery called in sick a couple nights ago, causing a dip in the efficiency of the refinery process, therefore causing the price to increase.

see it's simple. a perfectly logical and acceptable explanation.

Let me explain this slowly for you...everyone was blaming the republicans for keeping the price down to effect the elections. In reality the DFL who kept the prices down so they could blame the Rep's. The people bought it, blamed the Repub's, voted for the Dems and TADAAAA, their ploy worked and they won back the house and senate now we win higher taxes AND higher gas prices!

So how do the politicians determine the price of fuel?  Monthly meetings or conference calls or a roulette wheel....  and which party gets to determine who is going to set the price?

The price of fuel will remail unstable as long as there is OPEC and we rely on them.  It is no longer in their interest to keep fuel prices down and maximize production when other countries are willing to buy what they produce at an elevated rate.  We come up with a viable alternative fuel, or begin producing more domestic fuel and watch their prices tumble.  We are too dependent on them and their crude and I bet there will be no correction or true advancements for at least 10 years.

Good Luck!

Jiggle, my point was that it was not controlled by politics but rather supply and demand. But hey, I can spread lies as well as the libs can.

Just maybe it was in the best interest of the companys to lower prices...keeping the republican party in office and control..keeping restrictions on enviroment down and the big money flowing into the pockets of the rich investors.

Anybody that thinks the Republican party had any interest's in anything but the rich and continuing them to build their wealth with tax cuts for the upper-class...your sadly mistaken!!

The 6 million jobs they brag about bring to this country...are $5.00 to $6.00 hour  service worker jobs..Like Wal-Mart and McDonalds

The good paying Manf. jobs all left this country for some 3rd world country. Where again, the rich get their products made for near ZIPPO and ship it back here for them $6.00 per hour Wal-Mart employee's to sell it to you and I, well they laugh all the way to the bank!!

The voters of this country have showen their displeasure with the current adminastration..with the land slide victory at the poll's for the Democrats.

It's just the begining..08 will be yet another disappoitment at election time for the Republicans

I voted Republican for the last two presidential election and the last two Gov of Minnesota. They failed miserably in my mind!

I see many families in my area going backwards instead of forward..100s of homes a week in fourclosure in any news paper you pick up...Lay off's, busting the unions..all in the name of paying you less and making more profits for investors and owners of companys.

You tell me how this type of plan betters you and I...the average American worker...It Don't!!

It makes the haves...have MORE!! and you and I have LESS!!

So then its safe to assume that you think Oberstar should take all he has done around here and maybe try to be President?

Many Repubs got away from conservative values and smaller Gov't so many moderates who were both Dem and Rep that voted Repub before voted Dem this time.  I didn;t agree with everything the Repubs did, but the wakko Dems like Pelosi and Dirty Harry Reid aren't gonna be doing things you like. I for one am just gonna take a wait and see attitude but I'll bet your and my taxes go up now, both local and fed. Not gonna be able to blame that on the Repubs though.

I can settle this very simply.......

Before I walked into the voting booth on Tuesday I did not bother to look at the cost of gas...why? Because the cost of gas had nothing to do with who I was voting for. If it did play a role in your voting process then......... ???

There are far many more people to point fingers at about the cost of gas.

Right??

So now that the prices have dropped again, they must be working with the Dems to line their pockets now!?  It is back down to $2.13 today... the elections are over, the dems control... how does all this figure in?

Also, wasn't it Clinton (Dem) who voted in NAFTA and moved all those good paying jobs to Mexico?  I don't see how that can be hung on the current administration...

Now before you get too riled up, I voted Bush the last two elections, and if he was able to go again, I highly doubt I'd vote for him again.... but then again I'd have to see which dolt the Dems would throw in the election (Hillary? ???, Kerry ???, Gore ???).  It's hard to vote a dolt out when their competition is a retread-dolt!

Good luck!

My taxes and every fee knowen to man in this state already went way up...Thanks to(R) T-Paw

He just got the monkey off his back by cutting the state bugget to the local and county level. which they were forced to raise taxes and pass it on to us.. but hey...he doesn't have it on his hands..just away of raising taxes and not taking the blame for it.

Then every hunting, fishing, boat, snowmobile Lic...Etc. took a hike..but hey...he didn't raise taxes..just got the revenue another way. What did we get?

 A yearly snowmobile trail sticker...$15.00 + your normal snowmobile Lic(what it's for I don't know, can't ride without a trail sticker)

Slot limits near state wide for Walleyes

Many fish daily limits are now the possession limits

catch and release only from Sept 11th on for small mouth bass

4 duck limit instead of 6 like the rest of the flyway

Horse trail ride permit's now(with a yearly and daily fee)

New state motto...pay more get less

I could go on and on...Consevative my @ss!!!

Bush spent more money in 6 years than even your's or my Great Grandchildren will EVER! pay back to get this country back out of the red

You Conservatives have listen to the cut taxes thing so long from the republican party...you actually believe it..LMFAO!!!

Just how are we going to pay for Bush's war and spending habits? I know, he can use T-Paws User Fee system

user fee=another name for less money in your wallet or camo Tax!

 $10.00 per lb steak

Gas prices that waver between $2.10 and $4.00 or more per gallon

Ford and GM loosing "Billions" of dollars a year, laying off 1000s and closing plants

Airlines..well what can we say there?

3 board plants closed right here in the Northland

The new housing market on the rocks

Repose at a all time high

Bankruptcy at a all time high

Americans never more unwelcome world wide than now!

Things have never been better...Thats what GW says

The Republicans filling their pockets on the backs of the American workers is comming to a end!!

 Don't think so?

Just read the election results..The people have spoken!
