Fished with Mario Hernandez and his trusty companion Dan Murphy. The fog was very thick this morning and we weren’t able to troll out as far out from the shoreline as we would like, so we were stuck in a max of 15 fow. Mario slammed into a real crock and brought it to the boat, but the fish was to fresh and he had a very short line on it (not good). Anyhow Mario pulled the drag out by hand (not good) to adjust for the short line. Well needless to say, when he created that slack the pike shook the lure and it was all over. Mario realized his error right away and I'm sure he'll never try that one again.

Dan also lost another big pike when it spit the lure and it flew past our eye balls. Just one of those days I guess. I'm sure the guys were talkin about those 2 pike all the way home. As soon as the fog lifted we headed for some smallie fishing and they were co-operating giving us a total of 19 smallies.

The last time I fished with My client Paul Maddy was June 2003. This morning we trolled for pike with no success. The skies were clear, No chop on the water, and lots of floating weeds. We quickly made up for the lack of success by switching to smallmouth and the bite was on. Paul said that he won't be waiting so long between bookings when next season rolls around. We totaled 21 smallies fishing in 24 to 28 fow.

See ya on the water,

Lee
