How old should puppies be before you start rewarding them with treats......like- pig ears, milk bones, rawhide bones, etc.....

Be careful about giving to many treats. Rawhides are great for teething they can be given now. Use the bigger ones so your pup donesn't chew it up right away. Use the milkbones for rewards, like kenneling, sitting etc.......
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

I dont know how old your pup is but be careful on giving it to many rawhides too young..  That is tough on a delicate digestive tract.  it is ok as they get older but when they are really young be careful.

I started rewarding my puppies right away, but with something small like a piece of their food.  Stick with something they can eat in a bite...get bigger treats as they get bigger.

As far as rawhides...I learned the hard way to always buy bigger than you think they need.  As puppies, they tend to eat whatever they can fit into their mouths.  My lab ate a rawhide "roll" when he was 6 months old pretty much whole and I had about 48 hours where I wasn't sure he was going to make it... I've also learned to always keep an eye on them when they're chewing on a rawhide.  I usually just let them chew on it for a set amount of time and then put it up until the next day.

Not sure if the experts will agree, but that's just my humble opinion ;-)

Lisa's on it, be very careful with rawhide. It can get lodged in your dogs intestenal tract and even worse, they use some nasty stuff like lye and others if the rawhide isnt a USA made product.  Go with the milkbone type treats.  You can get cheap ones, but I usually get the nutro lamb and rice treats or equivilant as theres little or no corn or fillers in em.....   -thunderpout
