I was up on Leech last week and did very well on the panfish and the northerns.  My kids and I caught several large bluegills in about 3 feet af water all around docks.  My youngest pulled in a 1 pound bluegill, which I'm getting mounted for him.  I caught several northerns, all around 3 pounds, but had 4 follows right up to the boat which were about 15 pounds, but I couldn't get them to hit.  Headed back up next week, I'll let you all know how I did, maybe have a good musky report!

welcome leech angler! :)
thanks for the report.
with the past few years in a seemingly downhill slide for leech lake, it is good to see they are having a good season.
i saw several walleyes caught last friday evening and managed to catch one myself, while a couple others got off.
talking to the gal at the bait shop, i was told that the bite had been very good, including some very nice sized fish. she stated that a 29 inche walleye came in that morning!
keep us posted. it is allways nice to here about the action on leech.

That`s good to hear. We`re heading to Leech on Sat. for our family vacation, staying at Grand Vu Lodge on Pine Point.
Any walleyes during the day, or are they catching them at night? Minnows, crawlers, or leechs?
We`ll also be going after some crappies, if anyone has? some info on them.

P.D., i can give you good week old information for crappies if you would like.
it would be best to talk on the phone.
get a map that shows shingobee island.

the walleyes were coming in on shiners with an 1/8 oz jig. i was moving slowly over a bar in the evening pulling the jig just off bottom.
there was a guy who pulled up on the north end of the same bar. he was vertical jigging in 25 feet. snapping the jig up every four or five light bounces.
he was getting them a little earlier than I, and he was getting them more consistantly too.

Some of the walleyes are being caught on the east side of Minnesota island, which is in Steamboat bay.? Also, several walleyes are being caught in the Narrows and Star Point (formally known as Squaw Point) on a jig and minnow, best bet is in the morning and night.? Start looking to Walker Bay on the humps for walleyes too.  Shingobee Bay is the ticket for the crappies.

PD, if you are looking for some perch, go to Sandpoint on the southside and drag a small minnow in 8-12 feet of water, you will pick up perch all day long, although you will have to sort through some of them, but you will still have fun doing so.

You`re the one who gave me that nickname.

Still tough remembering that 2 lb., 16 in. PERCH getting shoved under 3 ft. of ice. That`s not a fish story either no matter what Jiggle says.
