Ely ice conditions

The ice conditions in the Ely area were improving UNTIL the 12 inches+ of snow blasted us the last few days.

Lake conditions are horrendous, with deep snow and slush making travel miserable.

This could possibly have been the coup de grace for good, solid ice for the season.
Snowbank and Burntside had 4-7 inches of ice, before the blast.

Looks like snowmobile will be the only mode of transportation when the lake trout season opens, as ATV's, even with chains, may be rendered useless.

Wish I could have a cheerier report, but am telling you what you got to hear, not what you want to hear.

Will update in a week or so.
