Man oh Man, was it a cold one or what? I know, that the time I spent outside this weekend, was pure hell on earth. The wind on Saturday morning was out of the Northwest at 15 to 20 mph and the temp was down to 23 below zero with wind chills in the 35 to 40 below range. If you were out in a house this weekend, and could not keep your holes open. You were not the only ones, having that problem, am sure of that. We are sitting with a great depth of ice rite now.

I have 22 inches of ice on the roads and 13 to 15 inches under the snow. We sure needed this cold spell to make it safer to drive on, but it can warm up any time now! Jonathan had to re drill just about every house Saturday morning, and did a great job working with everyone on his first solo run, working the ice houses this weekend. Thank you very much Jon boy, you did an awesome job.

I had a pretty awesome experience on the ice this weekend. As I drove out on Saturday morning you could see all of the smoke rising out of the vent pipes of the fish houses, just as the sun was coming up and reflecting off of the snow and then to top it all off, there was a bald eagle flying overhead, with the sunrise in the back round. Pretty dam majestic moment, even if I do say so myself!

Of course, I did not have a camera. Just another Kodak moment lost to only my memories. I wish you all could have seen it. Another cool thing that Patti and I saw on Thursday morning, when I was taking Patti out for her first tour of the city on ice. We were driving along and we saw the timber wolf, which has been hanging around this part of the lake for a couple of years anyway. He was out about a half mile and was headed who knows where. Those are some of the things you see when you are out on the ice, at the rite time. Ok, enough of the majestic stuff, I just thought I would share it with you.

Here is the fishing report for 01/21/08

The fishing was really poor this weekend. There were only 4 walleyes caught this weekend in the 19 to 26 inch range. The walleyes and perch are still down there, but they just are not hungry. It is so nice that everyone seems to have the underwater camera, and you are able to see that you are not sitting on dead holes, just a dead bite. I always do my best, to put people on fish. I have moved my rentals three times already, and we have only been out for 2 weeks.

It has been really weird this season with the bite. It seems as though the fish are only feeding every 3 or 4 days. Pretty weird pattern I think, especially with the perch. They are feeding machines. I am going to test this theory tomorrow and do some fishing myself. It will be the third day of them not feeding. As always, I will share with you what I find out.

Be safe out there

Have a great week

We will see you, when we see you.

Hey, do you have any big fish house up for rent this weekend?  From Saturday till Sunday, I got a pretty big group that wants to head up.  About 8-12 people, or a couple smalls we can put together?
