Shutting Down the resorts??

Anyone following what is going on up on Mille Lacs?

Basically they are trying to put restrictions on resorts on how they maintain their property as far as using fish houses in the summer......

what a joke.. blame that on sunday drivers... how is a fish house differnt from a camper? lots of people use them as both....

Here are some requirements of the proposed new ordinance:

The new ordinance for dead fishhouse storage would require berms or fences to be built to screen neighboring residential properties, as well as access that is available to emergency vehicles, but restricted to the public. Repair or maintenance would not be allowed in the dead storage area, and minimum distances from roads and waterways would be enforced.

In addition to the setback requirements, the live-in houses would also require 2,000 square feet of land per house, a minimum 24-foot driveway, a 10- by 20-foot parking lot that could be included in the driveway, and a supplemental parking area for every two fishhouses. Every 15 houses would need a permanent bathroom structure with two toilets, one urinal, two sinks and two showers as well. Every fishhouse would have to be within 100 feet of a bathroom.

There would be additional individual requirements for the fishhouses, including a fire extinguisher, internal restroom, carbon monoxide detector and a heating element with external exhaust. The fishhouse park operator would be responsible for checking the houses and submitting compliance reports to the zoning office.

Each house would also be required to be placed on the ice at least once each winter.

Sad.  The duel use is a way for a person without a ton of $$$ to be able to afford a weekend getaway.  Snooty rich folk getting their dander up.

Just imagine all the houses that will for sale this spring. I think I'll be getting a nice Mille Lacs permanent for dirt cheap in the near future.

This still hasn't passed. I'm thinking that if anything things will stay the same but the prices will go up.
