How's your fire arm security?

So how do you secure your fire arms at home and on the road?  I may be over the top but here's how I secure mine.

All firearms are in a gun safe with either a cable lock or a trigger lock or something similar.

The keys for the cable locks...are locked up in a separate lock box.

The bolt action rifles have their bolts removed and they are locked up in a separate box.

All the ammo is also locked up in yet a different box.

The keys for the 3 different lock boxes are all kept in a secret spot that I wont even post here.

no grute that aint to the extreme, i have trigger locks on every gun i own and they are locked up in the gun safe. the keys however are on my key chain (very bad memory i forget were i put stuff) and i lock the ammo in the garage in a different safe.

I used to carry the master key on my key chain too till my wife said "He's got to sleep at some piont." right in front of my 15 year old.  So now the master key is in my "home" safe.  That makes getting to any bolt action rifle in this house a 5 lock system. 

OH and Im also putting instructions along with those keys in the safe.

Maybe it's just me living out in the sticks but what if you have a skunk in your yard in the middle of the night????

i keep my stuff safe..  but here in the hood i have to have
a loaded gun, well out of reach of grandkids of course.
would be nice not to have to do that, that why i am going
north ASAP

I hear ya.  Just recently we had a VERY VERY un-likeable person move into our neighborhood.  Since that happened, I've thought of getting a CC permit and a pistol.  I still think I'd be doing it for the wrong reason and it would go against everything I've tried to put into my firearms safety so I keep resisting but its difficult.

I would suggest that everyone that is capable of getting their carry permit to do so. 
Just a thought because if you do not you could loose your right come November and remember the police are there to "catch" the bad guy after the fact.

Just a reminder to all. I'd be careful talking about your guns that you have in your homes on the internet, it would be pretty easy for a thief to track you down when your using your real names here.

I keep all of my guns locked up in a safe with trigger locks on all of them, they are all stored somewhere else though, I do keep one shotgun with me though, and have it close by.
