Up until today we have experienced weather that has caused serious damage to the ice. Rain and high winds has demolished the ice on Lake of the Woods. We now see massive open bodies of water with isolated patches of ice generally found on saddles between islands more protected. Crow Lake is farther behind as it is a glacier lake and consists of colder and deeper waters. That being said it to now shows signs of open water in current areas and with the high winds it is helping to start the process of it to becoming open. Today Mother Nature struck with a reminder of winter. Regardless we should see the ice continue it’s melting pattern with warm weather and strong winds. We will keep you posted and as soon as we see open water our quest for ice out Lake Trout will begin
