I've been hearing some good reviews on the Fleet Farm brand dog food. Anyone try it?
I fed Diamond for years, but  the local pet store stopped carrying it. I had to buy something so i grabbed a bag of Purina dog chow. I stuck with it and I haven't noticed any difference in the frequency or consistency of the crap in the yard.

Okay.  I did change after some stooling (LOL).  I settled on Chicken Soup.  My girl loves it and poo levels are normal.  Anoka Grain & Feed carries it.  My dog trainer recommended it.

All dogs are diff. but any great food should start with a meat base not meat byproduct not meal just simply meat chix.,lamb,beef,buffalo etc... and do stay away from corn. its a filler and a fattener. :blablabla: long term..... dogs need protein to be:superman: you look at the label and make up your own mind when it come time to feed your dog don't try and save a couple bucks its not worth it :bonk:

the problem we had at the hunting club is that we were feeding them diamond for about 2 years and some of the dogs seem not able to gain any weight with the food and some of them could gain tons of weight, then most of there stools like diarrhea(spelling) so after awhile the huntmaster (my boss) asked why my dog didnt have any of the problems any of the other dogs did with the food, i told him i have been feeding my dog royal cainie, but the only problem is that its on the spendy side. just imagine having to buy food for 25 dogs! that gets expensive but after awhile he said enough is enough. and looked at the stuff i was feeding my dog like wat was in it (rice) instead of (corn) base.

I have fed Diamond for 8 years.  Up till this year I fed the green bag in the off season and the performance during hunting.  Now I feed the lamb/rice Naturals in the off season and the extreme athlete Natural during hunting.  My dogs have never had stool problems.  I do see my buddies lab every once in awhile have a sttol problem out in the fireld.  But it has more to do with not getting the proper exercise then the food.

I hit atlas and petco this weekend, I dont buy at petco anymore anyways(because of a kid/employee with an attitude tellin me the dangers about leavin drummer in my truck in the shade, windows half down, and in for only five minutes WHEN IT WAS UNDER 70 OUT! :banghead:) But prices were a few bucks more on average there, lower at Atlas, about equal to co-op and feed store prices... but the regular premium foods almost all had corn/corn gluten in them as did all the cheaper foods... just as I remembered... yeah, stay away from the corn!  That and be aware of the protien sources and amounts, and how active your dog(s) are... theres alot of good choices out there but ya can still save money, ya just have to do some research... :reporter;

thunderpout,your right about the protien levels!!... with out doing an essay on it. Its like this... protien levels in dog food are just that a level, it doesn't say anything about digestable protiens the label might say 30% protien but only have 5,10.15% thats usable back to you get what you pay for. some dog foods might use low end products in there food and throw in beet pulp which is a stool hardener to prevent the dogs from gettin the  :censored: over all if a food works for your dog GOOD otherwise its a :banghead: :bonk: :cry: Thunderpout said "ya just have to do some research :coffee:
