Fished a small lake north of Two Harbors Mn this afternoon. air temp was a bamly 67 with brisk but southern winds. Water was a bone chilling 42 with a few spots at 44 One chunky northern a tad over four pounds was caught and released after being given a lecture about going after 1/2 ounce white spinner baits. He was encouraged to have his mother come and talk to me but she never came. Guess I can't improve my northern and we will have to sit in first place with what we have  :happy1: 28.5 hrs left boys and girls!!

Sad to report that Mrs. Borgie gave it her best shot yesterday. I can't believe she took this challenge so seriously, but I'm proud of her efforts. It was very cold at 7:30 am when we hit the water yesterday. The air was 31 degrees not counting the brisk wind chill. She worked hard with only one med size pike and 3 short strikes to show for her efforts. We wound up in the midst of turnover with the water at 53 degrees.

Now that she has joined the retired community I think she'll be fishing more this next season, so I hope she lands on an active team during next years challenge. If we had a Fishing Challenge Draft, I'm sure she would be in the top ten and #1 pick for me.

I just wanted to say thanks to all the participants in the challenge. I don't know what was more fun, posting the fish pics or all the great daily smack talk from everyone. One thing I have to admit is everyone can sure talk some smack on the challenge thread and it was a blast.

Bobby Bass hit it right on the head when he predicted victory for The Lodge Team and that was projected way early in the game. I have a gut feeling that Fawkinnae's team will be the one to watch next year.

Big Slick and Bobby Bass , You guys are the best!

I leave you all with The Lodge Team theme song, So don't be afraid to crank up the volume for maximum effect. Please no tears!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtG_-izuZx8&feature=PlayList&p=E63A998E4468920C&playnext=1&index=6

 Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.. Or maybe that was the double shot of Wild Turkey with the Hamms chaser. There were a few really nice fish that could not be posted this year and they were some great fish. This being the first year of the Challenge everyone has an idea of how it works and next year should be bigger and better! If we can get some support and maybe sweeten the prize pot some more who knows how manys teams will be on board. I have been in contact with the DaKids, winner of the Puddle Humper fishing trip and sometime next June we will have a tail to tell...

I would like to thank everyone for this contest, especially Bobby Bass & Hunterdown for your time and the extra efforts.  While I let my team down by not catching more, I did give it my best.  I'm a fisherman-not a catcherman.   ;D  It was fun to check this thread out on Monday to see who caught what and also to read the comments regarding the catch!

I might be convinced to give it a shot next year-provided a team needs a handicapper!  ;D  Thanks again to everyone involved and see ya this spring when (hopefully) we sign up for the sequal to the fishing challenge!  MNO Fishing Challenge Part Deux  :kermit:  :happy1:

 :reporter;

If anyone is interested on the follow up story about the missing Fishing Challenge Championship Rings along with the recovery sting view http://www.cops.com/ . This episode is scheduled to run some time in Jan 2009.

As things turned out the rings were recovered and unknown to The Lodge Team until today ~gg  :queen2: was instrumental in the recovery process working as a covert under cover agent. She posed as family group camper  :camping: near the hide out of the crooks keeping in contact with the local swatt team. Knowing how badly ~gg wanted one of those rings, The boy's at the lodge decided to pitch in and have plastic replica made for her.  :queen2:

:reporter; And now you know the rest of the story.

All I can say is "WHAT AN AWARDS BANQUET!" First off we received a military escort to the lodge  :army:   Upon our arrival there were many faces that we didn't recognize, :nerd: but they were all there to pay homage :kingscourt:    Here is one of the many group photos taken by the International Outdoors News Photographers.

:king: :king: :king:     For those who aren’t familiar with the championship team we have: from Left to right Big Slick...Bobby Bass & Me ( Lee) or SMG. You may have noticed in the photo that Big Slick's eyes were a bit glassy. Were not sure if that's tears of joy or to much   :drinking:    Hams.

As well as Buckhunter Cody and Hunterdown providing the entertainment  :blues brothers: We were also surprised with   :rocker;    Ted Nugent  who ripped out a couple of tunes for the crowd. Unfourtunatly one of our esteemed guests had a few to many Hams    :drinking:   and fell into the icy waters of Lake Iwanttobethere      :cold:     and almost froze to death. Was that you Woody?  :doah:

Thanks again to Bobby Bass and Hunterdown for doing all the hard work with the Fishing Challenge of 2008. I'm sure were all looking forward to next years competition and finding out who our new teammates will be.

What the hay, you say it's over.  It ain't over till we say so.  I want another shot.  I'm putting my fish on the streacher.  I want a recount.
OK, I concede.  Congrats to the winners.  We gave it a good try but like McCain, came in second.  I don't blame my team mates, I blame my self.  It was my failure.   :fishing2:

Hold on there Doug.

:reporter; We haven't even had a chance to get used to wearing our Championship Rings and your already planning to take them away from us. Let's give our Fearless Leader Bobby Bass a chance to savor the thrill victory for a few months.  :dancinred:

 :coffee:
Don't let the cat out of the bag yet, but roomer has it that Bobby has been offered a position in the new Presidential Administration :USA: next year because of his organizational expertise involving the Fishing Challenge.

Now, as for Big slick goes I understand that he's already been targeted by the Hams Brewing Company :toast: to put together the Super Bowl half time show staring the Hams Bear and himself. From what I understand they will be surrounded by Hundreds of scantily clad beautiful women.

Sure, what about me? As I see it now, it's just a matter of time until to right doors will open. My career will take off like a twenty five pound northern when he first sees the boat and will explode thru the air like a five pound smallie hitting a top water. With friends like Bobby and Big Slick it's just a matter of time and the sky's the limit. :whistling:

Hey, all kidding aside I can't wait to start picking the new teams for 2009 either.

You guys aren't going to have time for the 2009 Fishing Challenge! There's no way Big Slick is going to want to get away from all those scantily clad beautiful women and a lifetime supply of Hamm's.

Actually I'd be very disappointed. We all want to beat the best.
