Today I was able to get out with the Picchietti boys after having to cancel our first trip on June 6th due to high winds that peaked at 70 mph at one point. This year has been a most interesting Spring chuck full of cold fronts, rain, thunder storms and tornado warnings.

The water level is on the rise and some decent weeds are starting to break through the dreaded Witches Hair that mats the lake bottom. Today's water temp was 63.5 degrees as it struggles to climb up. One day we gain 2 degrees and loose it the next day. Recent daily storms have been playing havoc with the fish patterns so we've been moving around a lot to find the right combination. Many areas of the lake have a mud line extending out from shore due to all the rain and the water clarity is like coffee with cream.

Today we managed some decent largemouth in the newly emergent weeds about 12 to 17 fow, but had to go about 28 ft to find any decent smallmouth. I've been out on a daily basis weather permitting, but just haven't found the energy to get going on the reports lately. Got 7 trips this week and 7 next week so I'm hoping for more stable weather as I'm sure were all hoping for.

Fish die belly upward and rise to the surface. It's their way of falling.

See ya on the water, Lee
