is there anyone who will be fishing for pike on opener instead of walleye. ill be fishing for both. now i know from experience that even when your fishing for walleye you still hook into a pike or 2, but who is fishing for them pacifically?

There are a lot of people that come to Ely just for the pike fishing on opener. It's been my experience that the pike are more active than walleyes at ice out. There's plenty of time to catch the eyes, but if you just want to get out on a fun trip, then the pike are more likely to provide the thrills you seek.

I sometimes do. This year might be a good year to catch some of the big-uns , with the late ice out.

River mouths and sponning aeres for the eye should be a good place to look for pike as they will be waiting on the eye to come in to feed on after doing their own spawn run.
Spose to be rainy and cold here so will stay home again. I know, I'm just a lold wimp. lol

Walleye only.  I hope I don' even get a Pike.  Slime all over the boat, net, etc.

cant beat a fight from a big pike. and the slime is a minor thing to deal with for a trophy. even the little fight
