With the current stable weather patterns that we have been enjoying this past week the walleye/sauger bite has also improved on Lake Pepin. With higher than normal water levels for this time of year the fish are holding well back on top of the sand flats making lead line and flat line trolling good methods for putting these fish in the boat. We have also been experiencing some great bass action for both smallies and largemouth. The smallies have been mostly holding on the rip rap shorelines and the largemouth have been in the flooded back bays. We have had some great surface action for both species in the past week. The channel cat bite down in the river has been the best that I have seen in the past few years with tons of fish in the 2 to 5 pound range, great fun. There is something for everyone right now on the river so get out there and have some fun…..
