Man fined after having 44 walleye over the limit

The Associated Press - Brainerd Daily Dispatch

ST. PAUL, Minn. — A northern Minnesota man has been fined $3,500 for taking 44 walleye over the limit.

Department of Natural Resources officials say they received an anonymous tip about the fish 67-year-old Robert Allen Hansen was catching on Lake of the Woods.

Conservation officers say they found 22 packages of frozen fish containing 77 walleye in the Baudette man's freezer.

The DNR says Hansen pleaded guilty in Lake of the Woods County District Court to one count of possessing walleye over the limit.
