JUST A REMINDER.... June 30, 2006 , all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing
companies and you will start to receive sale calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.... To prevent this, call the following number from your
cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a >minute of your time.

It blocks your number for five (5) years.

This is not true, it was just a scam email that someone started doing last year.

There is no need to register your cell# on this list. Here is the proof that this is not necessary, this statement was copied and pasted from the official website for the Do not call list.

10. Can I register my cell phone on the National Do Not Call Registry?

Yes, you may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.

You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. FCC regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry, so most telemarketers don?t call consumers on their cell phones without their consent.

Thanks for the info Spinach. I was getting pre recorded messages on my cell phone awhile back. I think it was the same place everytime. Hoax or not, It can't hurt to get on the list.

I work for a wireless phone company.

This is a hoax.

The only customers that I have heard that have gotten telemarketing calls on their cell phones, are the people who give out their cell numbers.  What I mean, is that if you sign-up for a drawing (at a fair or trade show) and put down your cell number.
Another Example: if you are filling out a application for a credit card company and put down your cell phone number.  They will use it!  They may even sell your info to another company.

DON'T GIVE OUT YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER!

** ALSO, SOME PEOPLE ARE WORRIED THAT CELL PHONE COMPANIES ARE CREATING A DIRECTORY WITH CELL PHONE NUMBERS.  (Only two companies are creating this directory).

The only way your cell number can be published, is if you (the customer) requests that your number be published in the phone Directory.  Once it is in the directory, it could get telemarketing calls.

Just my two cents.
