Anyone have an idea of how the grouse hunting in SE Mn has been?  Will be headed to the Lanesboro/Rushford are in a couple weeks and was wondering if there was a bird or two in the area this year?? Thanks

Been hearing the guys down here say it's the low part of the cycle right now. I'm not a bird hunter but I'm gonna assume that's not good. These are guys from St. Charles which is not that far from Rushford.

Always worth a try though.
Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.

Numbers are down in that area compared to the rest of the state, on the up-side, the areas in that general area (I turkey hunt there alot, know it well) where the grouse are, are not vast, wooded areas, as up north... they tend to be in more compact spots, woody coulees/ravines and valleys between feilds... sometimes really hilly stuff... seems if ya know those areas, you'll find birds, but there's not as many spots to work as the northern half of the state...
