Paper tuning?

Just wondering how far away from the paper a person should be when paper tuning your bow?

We have ours set up 10 feet away.........
You can see drag and improper cutting that close.
It doesn't take much.

Yeah, that should be about right... I think when I did it it was like about 10 ft,  cause ya want to see whats goin on when the arrow is coming off the bow...

10 feet, paper tuning helps out alot.

Thats what I thought. I have always tuned bows from 6 -10 feet away from the paper. But an established archery shop told me that it doesn't do any good that close. They said you need to be at 30 feet.

when i first got my bow, after a few shots i noticed the arrow was
flying weird right out of the bow, but then would straighten out.
i took the bow back and they paper tuned it at 10 feet and found
they didnt get the string nocks on in the right place. shot perfect
after that.

i did mine at an archery shop and it was less than 5 yards away. my arrow was flying funny and hit the paper doing this / making an 3 inch rip instead of a tight circle and it was flying real weird. got a new arrow rest and the problem was solved

Thanks, this helps reassure me that I was right and the shop was wrong. I have been talking to a few other shops and they basically told me that this one was doing it at 10yrds because they were lazy and didn't want to put the time into really tuning the bow.
