 :applause:

The opener looks to be a wet messy one pretty much state wide.  Don't forget to wipe/clean your guns off as soon as you can each time in or each day.  They will rust very fast.  Gun oil does smell and the deer can smell it.  Maybe there are some good tips out there to post here or some ideas?

Good Luck to all!!!

So I had to sit down and do a little search and came up with this:

http://www.beartoothbullets.com/open_sight/archive_open_sight.htm/12

It is suppose to be completely scent free..

Has anyone ever used it before?

Back many years ago when we used to go late season muzzelloader hunting back when you had to pick that as your season and many years before inline muzzelloaders, a guy showed us to use vegitable shortning on a rag and leave a lite film on the exposed metal parts, then when it would rub off you would recoat it. Just put a small amount of shortning into a small plastic container like an old tupperware container that the wife will let you have, then put a small sock or rag on the top of the shortning in the container to use as an applicator, also if you force some of the shortning down alongside the barrel and into the edge of the stock it will help keep the moisture out of the bed of the stock.

Or you could just go out and buy a stainless steel with a composite stock and not ever have to worry about. I personally have Ruger stainless synthetic in a 7mm Rem mag, I can shoot tacs at 200 with it in any weather.

just remember to wipe your gun down real well when you get back to the cabin or house. if your gun case is wet also then open it up and dry it out. just make sure the gun is in a place that alot of air can get to it after you wipe it down to dry it. thats what i do, i never involve grease unless i absolutly have to.
