Best way to age tracks in the snow

What is the best indicator of telling how old a deer track is in snow that has been on the ground for a little while?

Fresh track will have crisp edges and the cast off snow will be present. As the tracks age the sun melts the cast of snow and rounds off the edges.

a good way to learn is to go out right after a snow or during and observe some then remember what those look like. or walk through the woods until you chase one up and look at those.
