Won't have the cash and want to get it for him for Christmas and totally suprise the crap out of him.  He is a fairly big kid for soon to be a nine yo and loves shooting with me and someday wants to hunt, so what I was thinking was that I would by him a bow that went from like 25-40 lbs and the dge has that and I know there are some other bows out there that would work for him, could you guys and gals give me some names of other bows that might fit the bill.  Thanks :help:

Hey- Whats the price range your looking for or want to stay around? Need the whole get up or just the bow?

If you go used- check a bunch of archery stores, youth bows or the smaller bows usually get traded in and can swing a little cheaper than new ones, if you have a Favorite store, let them know what your looking for, they might know of someone that might be looking to sell.. maybe ebay's worth looking at?

It is going to be hard to find anew bow in that price range. If I where you I would try to figure out a way to get him that edge. They only run like $300 and they are super adjustable(18-28" draw length). So he could start shooting now with it and easily kill his first deer with it too. I will talk to the guy up the road and see what kind of deals he has going on the edge and see if he has any bows that might fit your bill.

just my .02, i have compromised before and I always regret it.

Take a look at the Browning Micro Midas or the PSE Spider. Both offer a wide range of draw lengths and draw weights.

i would look for a good used one at a sports shop so you can save on not having to buy all the sights arrows...

i started with PSE bows and they seem to be great for youth. they are also fairly inexpensive and can be used for their first years of hunting. mine lasted me from 14-16 and then i got a new bow... but i still use my pse for bowfishing and it works great.

You definetly are on the right track looking at the bowtech edge.  For 299 you get everything you need to shoot except the arrows and the release.  I know minnnesota archery has a good package for them items.  If i were you i would probally talk to matt or barry at minnesota archery.  they will get you into something and are great guys on top of it.

I talked to my local dealer and he has a browning micro midas used he said he would be willing to get rid of for 150-175 something like that. He personally suggested the new diamond razor edge. It is the edge but better in every way. here are the stats:

http://www.diamondarchery.com/bow_razoredge.php

Razor Edge Stats
    Brace Height   7"
    Axle to Axle   31"
    Draw Length   19" - 29"
    Draw Weights   29-60
    Speed MOD IBO   308 fps @ 29"
    Kinetic Energy   73.7 fpe @ 29"
    Adjustable Let-off   75%
Optional Boondocks Accessory Package

After taxes it will probably run you around $360, but he will be able to hunt with it for the rest of his life if he wanted too. If your interested or have any questions. Give JT a call:JT Archery

I have a 2008 Diamond Edge RH 40 lb max.  This is a holdover since Diamond has released their Razor Edge.  Normally this bow retails for 299 but I have it marked at 249.  This is the last one I have in stock.  I also have a couple Parker 40 lb sidekicks normally 339 for 275, an Alpine Micro 50 lb.marked down to 200, and 2 Darton Ranger III's 15-45 lb. normally 269 marked down to 219.  Pretty good deals for new kids bows with lifetime warranty's.

Nope, he is going to be one bummed out little guy this morning when he opens his gifts and finds out he is not going to be getting a bow, hopefully he takes it better than I expect him to, since grandpa and grandma got him a pellet gun.

I am actually really bothered that someone would make this offer and then just not reply anymore for whatever reason, I just hope everyhting is well for him.
