Fishing has been a little slow for most in the last few days.  Crappies have been holding in 35-40 feet along with a few walleyes thrown in.  Fish have been tight lipped, and must be coaxed. 
I fished in 38 FOW today near Bayport from 8-11:30, catching about 15 crappies between 7.5-9 inches, releasing all.  They were caught on teardrop style jigs and diamond jigs tipped with minnows.  Jigging a small buckshot spoon produce a small 10 inch walleye.  Otherwie, fish were approaching the bait, watching, then turning away.  The larger fish have been touch and go with most anglers.  Walleyes have been spoatic, with most people targeting crappies.  Ice depth on the river varies, but is 14-18 inches with most places having 18 inches.  As always,  be careful when driving on the river, and especially near the discharge plant.  If traveling past the plant, for safetly reasons, go slow and hug the Wisconsin side.  Fish are hugging the bottom, and few are willing to move.
