Man Oh Man, it was a very cold week, it is very nice to see the warmer weather that is on the way. The way things have been the past few weeks with the snow and the cold, it will be a welcome sight to see some temps above 20 degrees this week. I am sitting here writing the report and watching the inauguration of our next president. I hope that he can turn things around for the country before we all lose what we have worked so hard to get. I know that it will not happen over night, but maybe just maybe, we will be on the road to recovery in the next year or two. With only 4 weeks of the ice fishing season left, I am looking forward to a little break before the opener this spring. It has been a long and trying year for Patti and me, and we are getting to old to be working 16 hour days anymore.

So, with that being said, I would like to offer anyone who is looking for an ice house this weekend, a 50 percent discount on your rental. There is one stipulation, you must book it for 48 hours and the times will run from 9:00am Friday to 9:00am Sunday. Give me a call @ 320 532 3431, If I do say so myself, that is a hell of a deal, and really what more can I do? Hey man, I know how tuff things are out there with the economy, I am feeling it too as I know most of you are. Things are the worst we have ever seen it in this business in 19 years. I hope that this huge discount will give many of you that have come to us in the past and do not have the extra money at full price, a chance to make the trip up to the big lake this season. As my Grandpa always said; half of something is better than all of nothing.

It was not too bad on the fishing front this past weekend, even with the arctic high that was upon us. There were once again some nice walleyes caught and a few that were on the line, but they just could not seem to land them, I think there was maybe some horsing going on with at least one of them, right Scott? The ones that actually got landed were in the 24 to 27 inch range. With the weather patterns starting to mellow out, the fishing should improve tremendously. I still have not seen much in the way of a perch bite as of yet. I have confidence that the perch will show up this season. The forage seems to be less and less and when the forage gets depleted, the bite will really start to turn on. I still believe that the perch bite will happen. There are a lot of walleyes being caught that are in the 10 to 12 inch range this season.

That is a very good sign of the bite that is to come in the next year or two. If the perch that are 5 and 6 inches long make it through the next year or so, we will have a great perch bite over the next few seasons. There are just not many big perch showing up as of yet. It will happen, as they have no choice but to come in, as we get further into the season. We may have to wait until some of the snow cover melts off for that perch bite to start up.

That is it for now

Have a great week

We will see ya

When we see ya
