Me and the kid went out this morning, we heard a few gobblers......but nothing came in.
We only sat out till 9:45 A.M. cause she had stuff to do.
So, when we got back to the house, she did her stuff and
I had to take my wheeler to a repair shop, this was after lunch...but on the way home, I spotted a jake in one of my fields. I parked the truck in the yard, and tried to put the sneak on him. By the time I got up to where he was, he was gone.
I waited till 5 to go back out and sit in the blind, the daughters boyfriend had come over, so she didn't want to go. I sat out by myself, I did some calling and got another jake to come within 85 yards of where I was. I car drove down the dirt road I was by, and scared him away. After that I saw 2 hens, but that was it for today.............skunked...........Well maybe tomorrow.

Yesterday, me and the daughter went out in the morning and seen 2 deer and 2 hens. She had to go to work in the afternoon, so I decided to move the blind to a different spot. As I was doing this, I cut my finger real bad and had to go get stiched up. I didn't hunt last night.

This morning, we went out and sat in the blind till 9 am, we had 2 different tom's talking back and forth, but nothing came in. Just as we were getting ready to leave, I told the daughter that if I see a turkey when I get out of the blind, I was going to chase it down and kill it with my bare hands! (I was joking) Well, I stepped out of the blind and seen 3 turkeys right up by the house between the shop and the garage (We coulda hunted in the garage, it would have been warmer)
So, I told her that I was gonna put the sneak on um! She just said "Have fun with that, I'm staying here"

Make a long story short, I did and this is my bird!
A jake..........Hey, it's a bird!

I got it with the shot gun....I was gonna come up and bug you if I didn't get one at home!

My blind has slots in the corners, so you can add brush to help hide it.
I wasn't paying attention to what I was cutting with the "hand" saw...... :rotflmao:
(almost ended up with a hook)  :whistling:

I would have to say, that this was the hardest I ever had to work during a turkey season. With the late spring, the turkeys weren't as vocal as normal, and they grouped up differently than most years. Normally, you either have Tom's looking for hens and gobbling heavy or you have Tom's that are already henned up, still talking, but with little interest. This year, we seen only seen 1 mature Tom, and Jake's up the waazoo. I'm not sure if the mature ones were harvested some place else or moved on, but hunting was tuff. I would catch single birds running from field to feild, then next thing ya know they would all be bunched up in another area....not responding at all.
So, with the odds being bad, we did pretty good, 4 out of 6 got birds.
3 Jakes and 1 mature Tom.
The daughter ran out of time and didn't get to harvest one this year. Being a collage student with a job, it's tuff to make time for hunting.

Well, if it was a sure thing....They would call it getting....and not hunting..........

Hope everone is doing well!
Sorry, I haven't been posting much......been busy!
I guess I gotta catch a few fish now!

PS...beersunny....It was only 6 stitches.......so not bad!

Who's all going fall turkey hunting?

I usually don't because of the other hunting that I do....
I was just wondering about the tactics you use...
Do they differ from spring hunting?

We got permits this fall for myself and the two oldest girls. It is a good feeling being out with the kids. I just hope the oldests' job at the new Fleet Farm doesn't interfere. She is a dream daughter.
