Who makes these?  Who uses them?  What species do you target with yours?  I am just interested if anyone else makes Hair jigs.  I picked up the hobby a year ago and mostly make them for panfish.  I am currently making a batch of 100 for my dad to take to the cabin this summer for walleyes.  I am a huge fan and love using the smaller ones under floats for panfish.  here is a picture of the 1/8 ouncers I am making my dad.

I know of Crappie Keith and his website.  Seeing his pictures and his jigs was part of the reason I started making my own.  I also needed a hobby for the cold winter months when I was not ice fishing.  I am tempted to pull the boat out and hit the river this weekend.  the temps should be nice this weekend.

Hey Boys,
Hair jigs are stone killers for Smallies
especially when there is a tough bite on many other presentations. They also work great on Northern Pike in the summer months when they are in deep water.

I use hair jigs tipped with plastics in the summer fishing for Pike. They are a great way to present a big plastic or livebait, when the fish are out in deep water, around mainlake humps and rock piles. I use heavier jigs in the 3/8, to as big as 1oz range when I'm targeting those big Pike.

For Smallmouth you want to use the smallest jigs you can get away with.
I'll start with a 1/16 or an 1/8 oz jig and see what they want. A crawfish immitation works well most of the time.  I also like some of the brighter colors, when I'm fishing in dark or stained water.  I will some times tip the jig with an artifical leech, or a 2" minnow immitation, however they are pretty good just by themselves most of the time. :fishing2:

Every serious Smallmouth or Big Pike
fisherman, should have some hair in their arsenal. Whether you make them yourself, or buy them off the rack, they can be a very effective tool for a number of different species of game fish.  I even use them Muskie fishing, from time to time.
